ABOUT
We’re Lance & Katey Johnson, owners of Zero Cattle Ranch.
In the 1960s, Lance's grandparents, Fran and Bill Greathouse , purchased what is now Zero Cattle Ranch. They built a home on the property and lived out the rest of their days ranching and taking care of the land. With a combination of several thick woods, improved pasture, and rolling hills, the ranch not only provides a home for cattle, but countless other wildlife as well. Native species on the ranch include turkeys, whitetail deer, rabbits, mourning dove, geese., and more.
Bill began experimenting with different cross breeding and genetics and came to develop the "Zero" breed for which the ranch gets its name. The breed is a white angus hybrid.
We are located in Southeast Oklahoma, about 2 hours above Dallas. We have since had the honor to take over and grow the ranch.
We currently maintain a small pure bred herd of our "Zeros" as well as registered Red & Black Angus, and commercial cattle.
We have around 200 head of cows located on 1,000 acres of pasture. Taking care of the ranch together is our biggest passion and joy. Whether we are watching an Oklahoma sunset, sorting cows in the pens, tagging new babies, or just riding around, we feel so blessed to be able to preserve this ranching heritage.
Most Americans are at least three generations removed from agriculture now. Our goal is to educate consumers about where their beef comes from, and ensure they know it is ethically, morally, and responsibly raised- besides being the healthiest and most delicious protein source of all.
Coming Summer 2024, we are so excited to launch our pasture raised beef to the public nationwide. Follow along with us on IG @zerocattleranch.
